Frequently Asked Questions

What is TSITE?

The Tennessee Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (TSITE) is a professional organization of individuals employed in the field of transportation or pursuing study therein, who share a common interest in improving the quality of the surface transportation system in Tennessee.

Why does TSITE want me?

The demand for a safer, cleaner, and a more convenient and efficient transportation system continues to grow amidst an ever-increasing driving population. TSITE needs more persons interested in, and capable of sharing their ideas, enthusiasm, and experience with us, so that together we can develop practical solutions to the problems associated with meeting this demand.

Do I have to be a Professional Engineer to join TSITE?

No. Whereas membership in ITE is limited to transportation professionals with engineering, planning, or related degrees, affiliation with ITE at the Local Section is not. Realizing that few of today’s transportation problems can be solved completely by engineers and planners alone, TSITE welcomes other who are involved in transportation work, pursuing a related degree, or are engaged in industry or commerce, who have an interest in transportation and are in a position to contribute to the work of transportation professionals.
