Knoxville MPO hiring Transportation Planner

The Knoxville/Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission is seeking a Transportation Planner that is committed to public service and has a strong interest in research, data management, and transportation finance and programming.

This position works with a variety of federal, state and local partners as part of the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization mandated obligations. The primary responsibility of this position will be maintaining and updating the region’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), the work program of federally funded and regionally significant multimodal transportation projects. The person in this position will also play a significant role in development of performance measures, grants management, and data management.

At a minimum, the candidate must have:

  • Master’s degree in urban planning or
    • Related field and two (2) years of relevant experience, or
    • Bachelor’s degree with five (5) or more years of relevant experience
  • Certification in American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or ability to obtain it is desired

Additional desired skills include strong written and oral communication, computerized mapping, and the ability to manage multiple projects.  Starting salary range 44k – 50k annually, commensurate with experience.
