The Tennessee chapters of the
American Planning Association and the American Society of Landscape Architects,
and the Tennessee Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers are
coming together for the first time to host a joint annual conference. The
conference will be held September 21 – 23, 2005 in Knoxville, TN. The theme is
“Looking Back, Moving Forward” and addresses how the past has been borrowed from
and adapted for today’s trends in planning, landscape architecture and
transportation.
We are pleased to announce a call for proposals to give presentations at the
2005 conference. These proposals can be for a single presenter or for a panel of
speakers.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
New Urbanism/traditional neighborhood development
Rural landscape preservation/open space conservation
Community design for active living
Signage issues/regulations
Dealing with big box development
Traffic calming
Planned communities
Safe Routes to School
Air quality issues (impact on regional planning)
State legal cases of interest
Corridor planning
Proposals Due February 18, 2005
Notification to Speakers March 31, 2005
Presentations Due August 15, 2005
If selected as a speaker, the completed presentation must be submitted for the
Proceedings CD. This ensures that all conference attendees will have an
opportunity to benefit from the information since concurrent sessions prevent
attendees from attending all sessions.
