TSITE Career Development Committee
The duties of the Career Development Committee are to coordinate Student Chapter activities and provide reports of activities to the TSITE, to coordinate with the Southern District (District 5) on Student Chapter activities and competitions.
The Career Development Committee is also in charge of assisting the Student Chapters in obtaining speakers, arranging field trips and developing programs for chapter meetings. TSITE maintains a list of prospective speakers who have volunteered to speak at Student Chapter meetings. The committee is expected to maintain and update the list of prospective Student Chapter speakers.
In addition, the Career Development Committee is in charge of ensuring that Student Chapters are meeting regularly. If not, the issue should be discussed with the chapter liaison and the faculty advisor of the school and reported to the TSITE President on reasons and assistance that TSITE can provide to reenergize the Student Chapter.
Announcing and advertising the call for student papers and recommending to the Section Board two recipients (winner and a runner-up) of the TSITE Section Student Paper Award is also a duty of the Career Development Committee. The letter should be addressed to faculty advisors with copy to liasons and should state that the paper will also be submitted separately to the Southern District (District 5) for their student paper competition.
Finally, the Career Development Committee is to assist the Scholarship Committee by announcing and advertising the call for the Student Chapter reports and recommend to the Section Board a single winner for the Robert Stammer Student Chapter Award. The letter should be addressed to faculty advisors with copy to liasons and should state that the Student Chapter report for the TSITE award and the Southern District (District 5) award should be the same report, and that reports submitted to TSITE will be forwarded to the Southern District (District 5) for inclusion in both competitions.
