2015 TSITE Officer Election
Online voting for the 2015 TSITE Officers is now underway! Please click here to view the voting ballot and the candidate bios. Votes will be tallied and results announced at the business meeting portion of the Summer Meeting. The election will close on July 25, 2014.
Summer Meeting Notice
Please mark your calendars now and plan to attend the upcoming TSITE Summer Meeting to be held from 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 30th through 11:00 am on Friday, August 1st in Gatlinburg. This is TSITE’s Annual Meeting and includes our Awards Banquet, 2015 Officer Election and Scholarship Auction along with technical sessions and other new features this year you won’t want to miss!
The conference will be held at the Park Vista Hotel (705 Cherokee Orchard Road – Gatlinburg, TN 37738). There are a limited number of rooms available for the nights of Wednesday (7/30) and Thursday (7/31) at a special rate of $83 + tax. There are also a small number of rooms available for Friday and Saturday night if you would like to extend your stay in the mountains at this great rate.

SDITE Honors for TSITE Members
There was another very strong showing for TSITE Members at the 2014 Annual Southern District ITE Meeting held in Greensboro, GA. Below are some of the highlights of awards and SDITE officer elections that were won by TSITE members – Congratulations!

TSITE Student Paper Competition Winners
The 2014 TSITE Student Paper Competition has concluded. Congratulations to the following students:
- 1st place: Jianjiang Yang, “Short-Term Freeway Speed Profiling Based on Longitudinal Spatial-Temporal Dynamics”
- 2nd place: Jun Liu, “A Micro-Measure for Automobile Driving Volatility”
- 3rd place tie: James Mersereau, “Assessing and Increasing Safety at the Intersection of Lambuth Boulevard and Wisdom Street in Jackson, Tennessee”
- 3rd place tie: Taekwon Yoon, “Development of Bicycle Accident Reconstruction Model Based On Akaike Information Criterion Statistical Model”
The 2014 TSITE Outstanding Student Chapter winner will be revealed at the summer meeting in Gatlinburg.
UT Engineering student, Jianjiang Yang in the news
University of Tennessee Engineering student, Jianjiang Yang was recently featured in the Knoxville local news. His paper on the concept of predicting traffic flow, won TSITE’s first place paper award. The article can be found here.
Spring Meeting – May 7th
Please mark your calendars now for the upcoming TSITE Spring Meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 7th in Memphis.
A draft agenda for the meeting has been developed and can be found here.
There are a few rooms remaining at the Doubletree Hotel (East Memphis – 5069 Sanderlin Ave., Memphis, TN 38117) for Tuesday night, May 6th in the block that has been set up at the special rate of $99.00/night. - Congratulations to the University of Memphis for winning this years traffic bowl at the winter meeting in Nashville. They will represent TSITE at the District Meeting in Greensboro, GA at the Ritz Carlton Lodge and Spa on beautiful Lake Oconee.
